We’re featuring a series from our team members each sharing why they spend their time and resources serving with Discover Deer Park.

Hi, I’m Kris. I moved to Deer Park as a first grader and working for the library is a real passion for me.

I think it’s important for new residents to discover what a wonderful library district we have here in Spokane County. I have always felt that libraries are the heart of the community and our customers the pulse.  Each day I’m witness to the diversity of our community and I’m humbled by the multitude of ways that our community uses the library. I’m encouraged to see that we are the place where people like to come and connect with one other.

I especially like being the place where new people come to ask questions about the community. I consistently field questions about volunteer opportunities, programs, and fun things to do around town. We consider ourselves the information hub of Deer Park.

Some libraries throughout our country are at risk due to funding and budget cuts. But our community is incredibly supportive of our library and of what we do. I am very appreciative of being here in Deer Park.

As you attend a Discover Deer Park event I hope you will discover something about our community that you didn’t know before. Also, by coming to a DDP gathering you’ll have the opportunity to connect with a business, service organization, or other resource that can help you thrive or begin serving others.

I hope you’ll check out the library website now and stop by to say hi the next time you’re driving by.
